The Meta Tapestry

Why is it Meta? This piece was once of the first works I made during grad school.  My thesis was about remixing antiquity and, in this piece, I took images of classical marble sculptures draped with fabric and created a modern textile of that image.  So over 2,000 years later the Meta tapestry is the actualization of that original marble sculpture, it’s a transformation of marble to fabric, of the idea becoming the material.

All of our fine art works are created in our studio and we work with an independent weaver to create our fine art textile. This 50" x 60" tapestry is woven in the U.S. with 100% cotton.  The Meta is ideal on a wall as a centerpiece tapestry, or as an impressive throw.
